Sneakers Stuff: 10 Useful Sites for Producers/Djs

Hey guys, today’s article is about the 10 essential sites, blog or web stuff for a dj/producer.

Probably you may know some of them.. or all of them.. but someone may not.. so here we are ๐Ÿ™‚

1) Ok, before starting producing your very own special sound, you may want to have a listen on what is going big in this electronic universe… you certainly know this portal… few words about it: the most famous, the most comprensive and if you’re a dj you can buy .wav files to play out. This is not the only one, of course, but is the most accreditated and (in my opinion) has a selection of tracks withย  an average higher quality among others.

Some others retailers, to name a few: trackitdown, junodownload, djdownload and itunes..the top for every other kind of music.

2) in just a few years this social network has become the best way to show off your talent, get comments, listenings to other work.. and maybe the most important and newest wave: best is becoming the quickest and most popular way to send demos. A lot ofย  labels are moving their demo imbox to this site. Plus the lite pro account is very affordable and is a perfect way to promote yourself and your sound. Trust me.. justย  make yourself an account ๐Ÿ™‚

3) This social network was the best way for musician to have a great website for free… since last year i think.. Recently has been updated to version Threepointoh… and it is way less powerful and way more limited that previous versions. Because of that it lost a LOT of visibility and users. But still is a good way to have a good personal page with all your stuff.

4) I think you may need some cool samples yo make your track shine among the others! Here you can find literally tons of collection from all genres of music… and YES.. you’ll have to pay ๐Ÿ™‚

IF you don’t want to pay anything and/or you’re looking for a particular sound, here you’ll find an extremely comprensive collection of oneshot samples, loops, vocals… My advice is to search for something particular you may use in your productions. Samples are given away in creative commons license… so you should give credit to the author!

What chords did eric prydz use in the mighty track “pjanoo”? or Avicii in “bromance”? You can find out that here..togheter with an ocean of other tracks. Here you’ll find midi notes of the most famous riffs in dance music.. and get inspired..but PLEASE DON’T JUST COPY THEM TO USE IN YOUR OWN PRODUCTIONS… let your mind go and release your creativity!

Great tutorials, mostly from Logic, Ableton Live and Cubase. From the very beginner level to more advanced you’ll find the peculiars aspects of many genres in electronic music.. from progressive ( daniel portman, chris reece..), to tech house (olav basoski, mark knight..), to swedish house (well SHM style) and many more. If you’re planning to improve your skills you better check out this “online school”ย

The name speaks for itself. Acapellas for you! If you’re a dj looking for some bootlegs or some cool vocal samples to tweak and put in your sets or ..tracks.. (not 100% legal.. tweak them.. a lot) this is the place for you! eheh sounds like a commercial right?

9) Let’s

“Let’s Mix is an online platform where you can listen to music mixes and upload, share and promote your own music mixes through widgets” …yeah that.. and a lot of monthy djs competitons where you could win pioneer gear and other stuff to go crazy with.

Nominated at IDMA 2011 in the “Best Music Site” cathegory, this will keep you FULLY updated on what is going on in music industry. 360 degreeeeeees. Fresh news, radio shows, promos previews, interviews… all you’ve evere wanted to know ๐Ÿ™‚

10 and 1/2) Social Networks like Twitter/Facebook:

Marketing. This is the word. Create an artist page, get fans follower and get your music hear! SPREAD OUT your sound, someone out there may love it, someone in the music industry if you’re lucky ๐Ÿ˜‰

So did you know all these sites? ๐Ÿ™‚
